Professional retraining for osteopaths
16 апреля 2014, среда

Over the past two years a number of regulations were adopted in order for osteopathic medicine to get the official status in Russia. In 2012 by the order of the Ministry of Health osteopathy was included in the list of medical jobs and in 2013 it became officially recognized medical specialty. Moreover, primary and second visit to osteopath (examination and consultation) were included in the range of medical services. It means that in the nearest future only those specialists, who received their diplomas in the institutions licensed for the osteopathic training, would be able to have osteopathic practice.

Nowadays osteopaths who were educated until 2014 have a unique opportunity to study an individual program course with the possibility to accept credits from the previously studied courses in the North-Western State Medical University named after I. I. Mechnikov.

In order to be enrolled it is obligatory to pass preliminary test which will be organized together with delegates from Osteopathy Register in Russia. Professional retraining program for the doctors who possess basic knowledge in osteopathy will run until 2016. In future it will be possible to get osteopathy diploma only after studying in residency.
As it was mentioned earlier, in February 2014 the Ministry of Health addressed the letter to the higher educational institutions in Russia. The letter says that osteopathy chair in NWSMU n. a. I.I. Mechnikov is recommended as an educational center for the training of osteopaths.
