The year was eventful for the Institute and for the Russian Osteopathy.
In the beginning of the year 2014 professional retraining for doctors who graduated from different osteopathic schools started at Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University. Teachers of the Institute of Osteopathy were the first to complete the course and to obtain diplomas and certificates. In 2014 80 osteopaths completed the program of professional retraining.

In the beginning of the year 2014 the department of osteopathy was created in Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University. The department started its work in September. Dmitry Mokhov, DO, PhD became head of the new department. The educational staff was formed by the teachers of the Institute of Osteopathy. Deputy minister of health defined the department of osteopathy as a methodological training center for osteopaths in Russia.

The participation of the Institute in the OsEAN (Osteopathic European Academic Network) Forum was one of the most important events in the sphere of international collaboration. The event was held on May 31st –June 1st in Barcelona. The director of the Institute Dmitry Mokhov spoke about the system approach to the formation of osteopaths in Russia. At the Forum the director of the Institute met with the representatives of the leading international osteopathic schools and associations.

In June 2014 a scientific and practical conference Osteopathy Open 2014 was held. Chief international lecturers Jean-Louis Jacquet (France) and Tajinder Deoora (Great Britain) shared their experience with the Russian osteopaths.
In 2014 two books were published under the auspices of the Institute of Osteopathy. In order to form a unified nomenclature, teachers of the Institute of Osteopathy compiled the “Dictionary of osteopathic terms and somatic dysfunctions”. It was the first osteopathic dictionary in Russia. The book contains definitions of all the indispensable osteopathic notions. In November a new book by Jean-Marie Landouzy, reputed French osteopath, “Temporomandibular joints. Evaluation, odontologic and osteopathic treatment” was published.
According to the tradition, in December the Institute of Osteopathy celebrated the New Year Osteopathy Party. The party took place in the restaurant “Palkin”, and was performed in the style of Chicago of the thirties. The atmosphere of the party was created by the guests’ costumes in keeping with the spirit of the Prohibition time. The guests took part in the contests and games, including the traditional costume contest. The new issue of the Russian Osteopathic Journal published on December 24th was presented at the traditional New Year Osteopathy Party.
