International Congress Osteopathy Open 2015

In accordance with the plan of scientific and practical events of the Ministry of Health for the year 2015 the international Congress “Osteopathy Open 2015: Current problems of osteopathy” was held in St. Petersburg on June 11—14.

Representatives of the Ministry of Health, heads and professors of osteopathic educational institutions from 14 countries, including Russia, USA, Austria, France, Israel, Kirghizia, Kazakhstan, representatives of public organizations, as well as leading Russian and foreign specialists in osteopathy, neurology, neonatology and pediatrics spoke at the Congress. The Minister of Health Veronika Skvortsova addressed a salutatory letter to the participants of the Congress.

The first day of the Congress was dedicated to the International Conference “Procedural and Institutional Aspects of Education in Osteopathy and Osteopathic Healthcare”. The most important problems of modern osteopathy in the sphere of governmental and socio-professional regulation of osteopathic healthcare and of education in osteopathy were discussed. Following the results of the Conference a resolution was adopted.

On June 11th the proceedings of the professional commission in osteopathy of the Ministry of Health were also held. During these proceedings problems of elaboration and enaction of new regulatory acts and of licensure of osteopathic medical activity were considered. The professional commission discussed the clinical recommendations in osteopathy and recommended to approve them.

On June 12th the plenary session of the International Symposium “Osteopathy and Child Health” was held. The Symposium was dedicated to the role of osteopathic medicine in prevention of diseases in children and adolescents, to the new approaches in treatment of newborns, as well as to the  methodological basis of osteopathic treatment of pregnant women.

By tradition the proceedings finished by the diploma delivery ceremony. 49 graduates of St. Petersburg Institute of Osteopathy received their diplomas of professional retraining and specialist certificates.

On June 13th and 14th 12 workshops by leading Russian and foreign osteopaths were held within the margins of the Congress.

By tradition an interesting cultural program was organized for the participants of Osteopathy Open. On June 11th the guests of the Congress went for a jazz river boat trip along the Neva. They could see a festive firework, organized in honor of the Congress opening. On June 12th after the plenary session of the International symposium “Osteopathy and Child Health” a gala dinner was held. At the dinner the soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre Academy of young opera singers Roman Lyulkin was singing masterpieces of world operatic art, which afforded great pleasure to the participants of the Congress.

During these four days more than 500 doctors from 30 regions of Russia, as well as from the USA, Israel, Canada, France, Austria, Italy, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Kirghizia and Kazakhstan took part in the work of the Congress.
